Vegetation Management Skeena/Terrace BCTCScope of ProjectTDB performed Vegetation Management services for BCTC in the Skeena/Terrace region of Northern BC. This work entailed using Certified Utility Arborists, Certified Fallers and equipment operators to perform edge tree falling adjacent to BCTC right of ways. TDB also utilized our Geomatics department to provide mapping of the right of ways, towers and treatment regions. Innovation and OutcomeThis project utilized sixty eight employees and two internal departments, emphasizing on internal cooperation and communication. The ability to complete all phases of the project internally benefited BCTC with a cost competitive product.Services used:
Scope of Project Vegetation Maintenance Services: · Edge Tree Falling adjacent to BCTC rights of way. Hand falling using Certified Utility Arborists and Certified Fallers: Mechanical Falling and RoW clearing using specialized RoW management equipment, access layout Danger Tree assessment and removal: · Stratification of RoW work units, Prework Packages, Contractor Inspection and Owner Inspection RoW Vegetation Management Program: · Riparian identification and management using Approved Work Practices for Riparian Vegetation (AWPRV), layout, landowner notifications and communications, Timber Assessments, area and debris management, clean up and mitigation of fire hazards. Mapping Services: · Project overview map, 1:10000 maps of the ROW, towers, treatment polygons and surrounding land parcels and features, FME Shape Files of the treatment polygons and plots in hardcopy and PDF format. TDB Geomatics Dept. uses the following software platforms to generate these products: o Leica GPS Data Pro & Trimble PathFinder for GPS processing o ESRI Software suite: ArcGIS / ArcMap / ArcView / ArcInfo o Bentley MicroStation and Maps3D 3.0 o GeoMedia and ImageStation OrthoPro o FME (data conversion & reprojection) o Adobe Professional (PDF plot creation)
